Summary Description of Classification: Provides assistance with classroom organization, management,
and presentation/development of classroom instruction. Works under general supervision of the
instructional staff
Primary Responsibilities
1. Assists the teacher in the preparation of educational materials for students.
2. Works individually with students and/or in small groups to help reinforce learning objectives.
3. Assists with all aspects of the daily routine, including distributing and collecting supplies, keeping
attendance records, and grading quizzes as assigned.
4. Participates in lunchroom, recess, hall-monitoring, and bus duties.
5. Assists with preparing and maintaining bulletin boards and other learning centers areas for
instruction.
6. Performs other duties as assigned by the appropriate administrator.
Qualifications
Knowledge, Abilities and Skills:
1. Classroom experience and/or proven ability to work with children preferred
2. Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) with students and adults
3. Excellent organizational skills and flexibility
4. If working as a Paraprofessional in the Dual Immersion program, should exhibit proficiency in
spoken and written language of instruction
5. Must be able to follow written and oral instructions quickly and accurately
6. Must be able to handle sensitive and confidential information

•Physical Demands: Ability to lift and carry 30-50 pounds with assistance
•Ability to push or pull a maximum of 50 pounds
•May require lifting, bending kneeling, reaching, stooping or crouching
•Requires ability to move and control an adult-sized wheelchair
•Typically sitting, standing, walking
